Superintendent's Weekly Memo - November 10

Superintendent's Weekly Memo - November 10
Dr. Marice Edouard-Vincent, Superintendent

November 10, 2022

Dear Mustang Community:

Today several of our high school athletes had the opportunity to go to Gillette Stadium for the annual MIAA Sportsmanship Conference. Our Mustangs were able to meet with other athletes from around the Commonwealth to discuss the importance of sportsmanship and what they are planning to do after high school. Coach Skerry and Coach Tortora had the privilege of representing the entire Mustang Coaching Staff. Athletics are important because it teaches our students about discipline, responsibility, being part of a team, and fostering a healthy lifestyle.

Today’s memo includes:

  • No school for students tomorrow, Friday, November 11th
  • Athletic Registration Open for Winter Sports
  • Thanksgiving Football Game at Fenway on November 22nd

Veterans Day is Friday, November 11th

The Medford Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, November 11th in honor of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day honors all U.S. veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve for the common good. I personally know this, as one of my brothers made the military his career. In addition, one of our own principals, Captain Michael Downs also served honorably, and many of our teachers and staff have done the same. We must never forget our veterans and the sacrifices that they made to keep America free. We sincerely thank you for your service to our country.

Athletic Registration Open for Winter Sports

The registration window for winter sports is open. All middle and high school student athletes must register in order to participate in sports. Please click here to register your student-athlete. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to our athletic office at 781.393.2226.

Thanksgiving Football Game at Fenway Park

With less than two weeks to go, we are encouraging our entire Mustang Community to come out and attend our Thanksgiving Day match-off against Malden. We want to see the stands full of our Blue and White Mustang gear. Come and join us as we cheer on our football team, marching band, and cheer team at Fenway Park. On Tuesday, November 22 the Medford-Malden Rivalry, one of the oldest Thanksgiving Day rivalries in the nation, will be held at 7:30 PM on the legendary Fenway Park field.

Tickets are on sale and we have shifted our annual Pep Rally at Medford High School to be held on that same day, Tuesday, November 22, 2022. We will be excited and ready to represent our Mustangs! We hope that this opportunity becomes a source of pride for the entire Medford community and a spotlight on our football, cheering, and band programs. This will be a memorable event; you can purchase tickets by clicking here.

Also, special commemorative tee shirts, hats, and sweatshirts are currently available for purchase in the athletic office. Please call the athletic office at 781-393-2380 for further information.

Again, I wish you and your family a restful long weekend.
