Andrews Middle School Principal Jennifer Skane Honored at 4.7 Medford School Committee Meeting
Governors Citation

Andrews Middle School Principal Jennifer Skane was presented with an official citation from the Governor's Office at the April 7 Regular Meeting of the Medford School Committee following her heroic response to a fire at the Andrews earlier this year.

When alerted there was a sudden fire, Principal Skane grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and immediately entered the bathroom to extinguish the flames, without knowing the size of the fire. In collaboration with Andrews, McGlynn Middle, and district staff members, she led a safe evacuation of all students and staff while simultaneously communicating with the community and city safety leaders.

The Citation from the Governor's Office reads as follows:

"On behalf of the residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, I am pleased to confer upon you this Governor's Citation in recognition of your heroic efforts to protect the students and staff of Andrews Middle School. We commend your quick thinking, and resolve to immediately extinguish a growing fire and prevent a larger catastrophe. Your bravery and fast action are a testament to your true leadership and strength of character as Principal of Andrews Middle School. The Commonwealth thanks you.

The Twenty-Fourth Day in March in the Year 2025."
