Acetaminophen, commonly known as the brand name Tylenol, is a pain reliever and fever reducer that can be purchased over the counter at your local pharmacy.

Many people turn to this medication to assist with headaches, muscle soreness, menstrual cramping, fevers, and more. When used as directed, Tylenol can be safe and effective. What most people don’t realize, however, there are hidden dangers of frequent Tylenol usage.

The health services department aims to provide alternative methods of pain relief during school hours prior to immediately turning to acetaminophen (Tylenol). Other recommendations include staying hydrated, cold compresses or ice, rest, and monitoring symptoms.

Here are some fast facts you should be aware of when in comes to acetaminophen (Tylenol):

  • Never take two medications that contain acetaminophen at the same time.
